Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the Northern Coroner decided not to hold an inquest into the circumstances of Bruce Gavin Schuler’s death because their coronial investigation revealed sufficient information to enable them to make findings about his death.
The findings were informed by the evidence contained within a coronial brief prepared by the Queensland Police Service and evidence obtained from the transcripts of the Supreme Court criminal trial R v Struber; R v Wilson-Struber [2016] QCA 288.
The murder trial of Dianne Wilson-Struber was hindered by monetary constraints and her primary representation resigned but held a good case for her innocence. The case then turned over to legal aid, leaving minimal time to build an effective case. Post analysis of the case including released information from her prior legal team has raised concern and doubt about the evidence brought against her.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to cause a coronial inquest into the disappearance of Bruce Gavin Schuler. Such an inquest would enable current legal teams investigating the case to be afforded the opportunity to test evidence brought against Dianne Wilson-Struber.
