Message from the Speaker
As Speaker of the 57th Parliament, my goal is to ensure continuing respect for the Queensland Parliament by acting fairly and in the interests of all Queenslanders.
It is a great honour to build on the work of previous members to have held this high office – all of whom have contributed to our parliamentary democracy through their stewardship of the House.
As a member from regional Queensland, I particularly want to see as many Queenslanders as possible interact with our Parliament – no matter where they live.
I commit to providing all members with the opportunity to be heard on behalf of their respective constituencies, and ensure members’ contributions in the Parliament are of the highest possible standard.
It is incumbent upon all members of the House to act with dignity and decorum – reflecting the trust the people of Queensland have placed in us.
Hon. Curtis Pitt MP
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly
