The Queensland Parliament's fourth regional sitting was held in Mackay from 24-26 May 2011 at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre.
This event was an historic opportunity for school students and the general public in the Mackay region to visit their Parliament and experience democracy in action.
In addition to a full parliamentary sitting program, a number of free community engagement activities were held. These included a schools program that saw 2,537 students from 39 different schools view and learn about their parliament, the Mackay Youth Parliament, AUSLAN interpreters at the Tuesday evening Question Time session, displays and a free community barbeque.
This regional sitting of the Queensland Parliament followed sittings in Townsville (2002), Rockhampton (2005) and Cairns (2008).
