Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that Cyclone Alfred showed the inadequacies of our power transmission systems, leaving more than 400,000 households without power. People were unable to go online to seek contact information for support and assistance facilities. Whilst the process of placing power transmission lines underground would be slow and costly, it would increase resilience for future natural disaster. 

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to place all Queensland power transmission lines underground.
