Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need to simplify the registration process for SXS (Side-by-Side) vehicle owners and operators.
The following measures will benefit SXS owners, tourism operators, and the broader community by promoting responsible vehicle use and safer access to public lands:
1. Simplified Introduction of a Recreational Registration Class for SXS: A straightforward and clear registration class for recreational on- and off-road SXS vehicles, ensuring owners have the necessary insurance and can legally use their vehicles in designated areas.
2. Expanded Access to State Forests, Roads, and Road-Related Areas: Increased access to state forests and roads for responsible SXS recreational use, improving management and safety while protecting the environment.
3. Government-Funded Public Awareness Campaign on SXS Registration and Safety: A campaign to educate SXS owners and the public on registration requirements, legal access, and safety, fostering better compliance and understanding.
4. Improved Conditional Registration for Tourism Operators: Flexible registration options for tourism operators using SXS vehicles in guided tours, rentals, and recreational activities, including temporary or seasonal permits.
5. Formation of a Working Group for SXS Registration and Access Issues: Creation of a working group with government representatives, SXS owners, tourism operators, and other stakeholders to review and improve the current registration processes.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to simplify the registration process and improve access for SXS (Side-by-Side) vehicle owners and operators.
