Reestablish Queensland's Truth-Telling and Healing Inquiry
Eligibility - Residents of the State of Queensland226 Wilston Road
NEWMARKET QLD 4051
Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the State's Truth-Telling and Healing Inquiry was an important step towards healing the division between Indigenous and non-indigenous people which has existed in our community since before Separation in 1859. The Inquiry was established under legislation which was passed with bipartisan support. The repeal of this legislation works against the long-term interests of reconciliation in Queensland. While much needs to be done to improve the situation of Indigenous people (such as home ownership), such steps can continue in parallel with an Inquiry's work.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to reestablish the Path to Treaty Act 2023 and the Truth-Telling and Healing Inquiry.
