Consideration of Auditor-General Report 15: 2024-25 Education 2024
False
OVERVIEW
Role of the Auditor-General
The role of the Auditor-General is to provide parliament with independent assurance of public sector accountability and performance. This is achieved through reporting to parliament on the results of financial and performance audits and other insights.
About the Auditor-General Report
The Auditor-General Report 15: 2024-25—Education 2024 summarises the results of the Auditor-General’s audits of the entities in Queensland’s education sector, including: the Department of Education; the Department of Trade, Employment and Training; TAFE Queensland; 7 universities; 8 grammar schools; and other statutory bodies. The major findings of the report include:
- The sector’s financial statements are reliable
- Security issues with information systems are increasing
- Universities’ financial performance has improved
- Wage underpayments for universities remain a risk
- TAFE Queensland’s operating results have improved
- Departments continue to underspend their capital budget
The report does not make any new recommendations to education entities this year; instead, it draws attention to recommendations from previous years that require further action.
