Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House to motorists who choose to have an on-the-spot fine heard by a court should not be required to pay any more than the value of the on-the-spot fine. All Queenslanders should have fair access to justice without prejudice. The would reduce the risk of Police issuing erroneous fines without effective accountability.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to amend the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 to prevent a court from imposing costs on a motorist who is defending an on-the-spot fine that are greater than the monetary value of the on-the-spot traffic fine.
