The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the fact that the Queensland Government has decreed a dam will be built on the Mary River. We strongly oppose this dam for social, environmental and economic reasons.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to take all necessary action to protect the homes of the people of the Mary Valley who are threatened along with unique and endangered species of animals by the Queensland Government's proposal to dam the Mary at Traveston Crossing.
