Queensland residents draws the attention of the House to the looming
crisis in the Department of Main Roads. The Department needs to address
the recruitment and retention of the staff that the department loses
every week. This is seriously affecting the organisational capacity of
the Department to deliver on the massive infrastructure requirements that
Queensland needs now and into the future, and the ability of Main Roads’
workers to deliver the upcoming 210% in the RIP.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to ensure that the
Department of Main Roads uses the current round of EBA negotiations to
offer salary and or financial benefits to address the loss of staff, and
inability to recruit new staff. Otherwise the Department of Main Roads
will end up in a similar crisis to that which has engulfed Queensland
Health.
