The Petition of residents of the Mareeba Shire draw to the attention of
the House the planned sell-off of the Mareeba Pre-school and the
relocation of the children into the Primary School against the wishes of
the community. This pre-school has enjoyed decades of very strong
community support including extensive fund-raising.
Your Petitioners therefore request the House to direct this pre-school
not be sold off but retained by Education Queensland, and that it
continue to be used either as a preschool or some other specialist
facility, to the benefit of the children and the community
