The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws the attention
of the house to the Department of Education and Arts and Department of
Employment and Industrial Relations to proposal to extend Roma’s existing
Preschool to Year 10 school to a P-12 school in 2006.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to
• not disrupt the learning of the students of the SQIT Roma College;
• retain the SQIT Roma College in its present form as it delivers high
quality schooling in an independent environment, with a choice of over 40
subjects that more appropriately caters for diverse rural and regional
community of Roma and district;
• reject the P-12 proposal as it will mean loss of jobs for members of
the community;
• reject the hasty and inadequate consultation processes.
