Electors of Springwood Electorate draws to the attention of the House the development of 180 residential lots planned
for 113-131 Daisy Hill Road, Daisy Hill will adversely affect the “Koala Coast” koala population and dramatically increase
traffic into a highly congested area.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to prevent development on this property indefinitely by acquiring the
property on behalf of residents in the Springwood Electorate. This property is listed in the highest rating (KMA-A1)
under the Koala Nature (2005) Conservation Plan, was initially outside the urban footprint under the draft South East
Queensland Regional Plan 2004 and 78% is proposed for conservation in the draft Logan Planning Scheme (2004). The
koala coast, which this property is part of, has Australia’s largest, most genetically diverse semi-urban koala population.
By maintaining remnant and regrowth eucalypt dominated forests, woodlands and habitat linkages in South East
Queensland Bioregion the survival of our national icon will be guaranteed. KMA-A1 has the most significant koala
population with the highest density of koalas, the strongest breeding rates, lowest disease rates and sufficient
undisturbed habitat to sustain a viable population.

We also request the removal of Chatswood Road Reserve from the road gazette. Acquisition of the land and removal of
Chatswood Road Reserve from the road gazette will prevent dramatic increase in traffic to this already highly congested
traffic area and maintain one of the two main koala corridors between Venman Bushland Reserve, Daisy Hill State Forest
Reserve and Springwood Conservation Park.

Acquisition of 113-131 Daisy Hill Road,
Daisy Hill and the removal of Chatswood
Road Reserve from the road gazette:
Requesting the House maintain the koala
corridor by preventing the residential
development and increase of traffic to the
area
