The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that some self-funded retirees do not get a pension because of the asset test and do not get the same benefits as pensioners. For instance, self-funded retirees often do not get a discount on council rates which all seniors should get. Self-funded retirees save Australia huge pension sums, why should they not get a discount on council rates for instance.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to consider giving self-funded retirees the same benefits as pensioners.
