The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that speed limits between towns with a one metre separation of centre of highway and the widening and extra passing lanes should be raised by 10 km per hour. The safety of modern cars with radar cruise control, air bags and 5* ratings these days should allow this increase. The history of cars that governed speed limits of an old Holden with drum brakes, cross ply tyres et cetera are so far away from today's cars and needs a review. This would stop fatigue, time on road and safety of travel on Queensland roads.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to change speed limits on all highways in Queensland from 100 to 110 km/h and 110 to 120 km/h.
