The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the need for an Amnesty for Homeless persons taking shelter in our parks and gardens all over the State.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure an Amnesty to homeless persons who are camping in make-shift dwellings, their car, or tents, on public land, car parks or gardens; that protects them from council fines or prosecution, for a period of time that enables them to relocate to a council approved site they can occupy during their crisis. That the state of 'homeless' be given an official definition for this purpose. That each town and city provide a designated site for homeless persons to legally inhabit, for up to 28 consecutive days at a time, while they are homeless, that is centrally located to services they need, including amenities and supermarkets. That amenities blocks or portaloos are provided at these sites.
