Queensland citizens draw to the attention of the House, That many private companies use their sales processes to facilitate charitable giving to many worthy causes and your petitioners believe that the Queensland Government could do something similar with the various transactions with which businesses and individuals regularly engage.

The idea would be to allow people to pay over and above the standard Government fee as a means of keeping those standard fees lower for citizens who have lesser financial means.

As an example, it has been noted that many school children travel on Translink buses without a valid Go-Card, but of course, for their safety, are allowed to continue to travel anyway. This obviously means that standard Translink fares are at a somewhat higher price for paying patrons to keep the system financially viable.

Your petitions, therefore, request the House to, Implement a "Common Good Concession" Go-Card that charges a 50% higher rate than the standard fare (in much the same way that other concession cards reduce the standard fare by 50%) as a convenient means by which generous citizens can voluntarily reduce the fare burden for the general public, as well as other similar schemes across as many government services as possible.
