TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that there have been excessive rises in electricity prices in 2023.

For example, the principal petitioner's electricity supplier, which he has been with for 20 years, has increased prices by 43%.

Your petitioners understand that there are various rebates and concessions, but no Queenslander should pay more for electricity than others. Electricity rates need to be fixed or capped and providers compete with others by offering discounts on the fixed or capped rate.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to legislate to (a) fix a set price for electricity so that all Queenslanders pay the same per kilo watt hour, no matter the provider; (b) ban or control day rates.
