Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the pedestrian bridge across the railway lines between Gregory Terrace and Victoria Park will be demolished by Cross River Rail and not replaced. Victoria Park is being developed into a community park and visitation is increasing with public events held in the park. The current active transport connection from the CBD to Victoria Park runs behind the grammar schools. It is already too narrow for the numbers of people walking, running and on bikes and scooters. The current connection to the park across the land bridge also does not allow for convenient access to Herston Road.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to work with Brisbane City Council to deliver a high-quality active transport bridge that will connect the Roma Street Priority Development Area across the rail lines and ICB to Victoria Park/Barrambin, and then via ridge-top pathways to QUT Kelvin Grove and the northern edge of the park at Herston Road.
