Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the current decision of the Office of Queensland Revenue to include doctors operating under contract as employees and the implications that the extra costs will have on general practitioners and health care across the state.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to address this issue, including considering an provide an exemption to contracted general practitioners to allow them to practice in medical centres without added tax expenses to the centres. Alternatively, we request that the government conduct extensive consultation with the doctors, medical body, health ministers, local members, the Queensland public and any other relevant parties that will be affected.
