Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House to the Review of the Great Sandy Marine Park Zoning Plan, that if realised in its current form will irreparably devastate and close the local catch seafood industry and commercial seafood industry suppliers.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to restore the public’s confidence in the government's management of the commercial seafood industry by:

1. Ceasing the consultation process until an independent investigation into Queensland Department of Environment and Science’s development of the Great Sandy Marine Park Zoning Plan, including scientific evidence forming the basis of the plan.

2. Avoiding a potential class action that will need to be defended by the Government at the cost of the Queensland taxpayer.

3. Recognising that Queenslanders want to eat local catch seafood over imported products.

4. Avoiding the unfounded discriminations against commercial fishers that is prevalent throughout the report.

5. Recognising that climate change is a global issue and the responsibility should not fall on any one (1) industry.

6. Defending jobs in Hervey Bay and the seafood industry.
