Raise the Paroo River bridge at Eulo by 1.3 metres
Eligibility - Queensland citizensPO Box 945
ROMA QLD 4455
The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the need for the raising of the 93-year-old bridge over the Paroo River at Eulo. When the Paroo River floods the Eulo crossing is closed at 0.3m stopping all traffic and tourism commerce. The flood boat is unable to be used until 0.8m leaving the communities, including Yowah and Thargomindah, stranded without vital food and medical supplies. The bridge can be closed for up to six weeks. The raising of the bridge to 1.3m above the existing bridge, will enable these communities to have access to vital food and medical supplies during flood events without having to travel 18 hours for alternate access. Any road realignment must not impact on the businesses in Eulo with a bypass.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within their power to raise the bridge over the Paroo River at Eulo by 1.3m.
