We need a Child Protection Force

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the child safety system in Queensland is broken. Across the state, Queenslanders are fed up with hearing news of yet another child let down by the broken system on an almost weekly basis. Since 2015, 16 children all under the supervision of child safety have died. We hear time and time again of the massive issues that face the troubled department; systemic bullying, a toxic culture, inadequate training and staff not even being aware of their responsibilities, overburdened case workers, complete breakdown in communication between staff internally as well as to other external agencies.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to urge the Palaszczuk Labor Government to adopt the LNP’s Child Protection Force. We need a Child Protection Force that delivers on its namesake, to protect children. A system that places the best interests of the child at the heart of all its dealings is long overdue and desperately needed. We request that the Palaszczuk Government makes sweeping changes to this horribly broken system and before another child is killed under its watch.
