FORTITUDE VALLEY QLD 4006
Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that the Queensland State Government has frozen grant applications for some business grants during a time when grants are desperately needed. Grants are an important stimulus and while most other governments are increasing stimulus payments, the State Government is at best delaying if not removing this important stimulus measure to the micro and small business sectors. Small and micro business owners, along with medium and big business, have been savaged by the respond to COVID-19. They are often the least equipped to respond, and their ability to access professional assistance to respond, is further hampered by the uncertainties of success and the future.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to:
1. reopen all grant rounds immediately;
2. provide easier access for micro and small businesses with a turnover of less than $2 million to access these grants; and
3. expedite the process for awarding these grants.
In order to ensure that the Queensland economy is pump, primed and ready to go as the isolation is eased in the coming months.
