TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House the application from The Reed Property Group for a Bottle Shop to
be located at Tenancy 3, Kawana Island Boulevard Warana. Between the
hours of 8 a.m. and midnight.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to refuse this application
on the following grounds.
1) There are already sufficient bottle shops and licensed premises in the
locality to meet the reasonable requirements of the public in the
locality for the availability of takeaway liquor.
2) The proposed bottle shop is located in close proximity to sensitive
community facilities such as the Palms residential complex whose
residents mainly comprise elderly persons.
3) There are strong objections from residents of the surround locality
regarding the communities need for a bottle shop in the proposed
location.
4) With the opening of the new road through to the Sunshine Motorway,
traffic in this area especially coming off the bridge, is considerable
and this would further exacerbate the traffic congestion.
