Safe Schools Coalition resources are dangerous for our children

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House: Safe Schools Coalition Australia (SSCA) resources are promoting inappropriate and dangerous information for our school children. Minus18 co-produce resources for SSCA and are promoted to the extent that children are told by SSCA that it is important for them to be able to access Minus18 at school, and if it is blocked they should speak to a teacher. Minus18 contains inappropriate material including instructions for girls on how to bind their chests despite warning of potential lethal consequences, and for boys, instructions on ways to conceal their private parts. Minus18 refers to sexually transmitted infections (STI's) in very explicit language and tells students that having an STI is, “not as terrible as you may have expected, in fact it's not terrible at all.”
We call on the government to act in the best interests of all children. We believe no one should be bullied at school, including children identifying as LGBTI. But we believe it is not the role of Government to be promoting academically contested radical sex education and gender theories to children as young as 4 years old in resources such as The Gender Fairy.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to
• Conduct an inquiry into the appropriateness of the materials use for school children
• Stop the use of these resources in our schools until the inquiry can be completed
• Reveal the list of Queensland schools who have currently adopted the program
