The residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House their serious concerns in relation to lengthy delays in ambulance
response times to areas situated west of Mackay along the Peak Downs
Highway and the Pioneer Valley, which is very often resulting in
residents taking a decision to either meet the ambulance on the way out
from Mackay, or electing not to call an ambulance at all and transporting
the sick or injured person in their own vehicle because they believe it
is the only way to get the patient to hospital quickly, both of which
have serious health and safety implications.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to take the necessary
measures to provide residents in these localities with access to a timely
and reliable ambulance service which eliminates the need for any further
health or safety risks to the sick or injured.
