Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the Newman Government's decision to not provide funding for Advisory Visiting Teacher support teaching staff from Education Queensland to non-state and independent schools from January 2013. This decision will have a negative impact on Queensland children with hearing impairment, which will ultimately have an impact on their educational outcomes. Without the support of specialist teachers in a mainstream educational setting, children with hearing impairment will conceivably not be able to achieve their full education potential.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to urge the Minister for Education, Training and Employment to guarantee funding for the vital Advisory Visiting Teacher support service from January 2013 and beyond.
