Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that Police Prosecutors are incurring considerable costs in the prosecution of motorists who choose to have an on-the-spot fine heard by a court. They use these costs as a way of intimidating innocent motorists who challenge erroneous Police allegations. All Queenslanders should have fair access to justice without prejudice.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to amend the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 to prevent Police Prosecutors claiming costs when on-the-spot traffic fines are being defended in court.
