To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of
Queensland.

The petition of certain citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of
the House current legislation under the Mental Health Act 2000 allows the
early release of persons who have committed such heinous offences as
murder and attempted murder, who are considered by the Mental Health
Court to be of unsound mind at the time of the offence. There is no
conviction recorded under the Act. A conviction does not necessarily
relate to punishment.

We the undersigned believe that the person should have a conviction
recorded for the offence committed.
